Workshop: Third Generation Aviation Safety Management

garsWildau - Air transport today is the safest mode of travel for long distances.

In the first decades after World War II the reliability of aircraft, engines and equipment was improved to minimize the risk of mechanical failures. Later human factors as a cause of hazard came into focus. Today safety management experts concentrate on organisational factors. Airlines as well as airport operators, air traffic control, manufacturers and maintenance facilities have to ensure a management framework able to minimize risk. This workshop will give an opportunity to discuss the state of the art in aviation safety management from different perspectives, exchange knowledge and experience, address open issues of potential conflict and show up the need for further research.
