Berlin/Schönefeld - From the 17th to 21st of October 2013, Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Alliance (BBAA) took part in the China International General Aviation Convention 2013 (CIGAC 2013) in Xi’an, China.
BBAA had the honor of leading and hosting the following members and experts at CIGAC 2013: BDLI, Aviare Consult, AMD Airport Management and Development GmbH, AOPA, Aquila Aviation, and TH Wildau.
Within the framework of the CIGAC 2013, and through the invitation of their executive committee and the close co-operation with MBL China Consulting, BBAA organized a “Sino-German General Aviation Development Experience Exchange Forum” where its company members could present themselves. The exchange forum focused on the areas of the development, planning, construction, management, operation processes and outlined the benefits of General Aviation airports. The German experts shared their experience of the GA regarding the regulatory framework, business models and value chains, aerodroms and infrastructure. In addition, several GA airport case studies from Germany were presented. For this occasion, an advertising brochure containing short presentations of the respective German company members and experts was presented and distributed.
The Convention hosted over 100 general aviation aircrafts from China and overseas, including a wide range of business jets, helicopters, sport aircraft, UAV’s, and amphibious vehicles. Over 100 aviation equipment manufacturers, 500 domestic and overseas general aircraft companies and enterprises presented their latest technologies to approximately 300 thousand spectators at this biennial event. An acrobatic airshow was one of the highlights of this event.
The BBAA delegation also used the visit to CIGAC 2013 to strengthen its co-operation with the Beihang University in Beijing and organized a meeting with Mr. Gao Yuanyang (Director of the General Aviation Industry Research Center, Assistant Mayor of Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, Vice Secretary General of the Chinese Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association/AIOPA-China) and his team. The meeting was used to explore and debate further co-operation opportunities between research and academic facilities of Germany and China that deal with General Aviation. Furthermore, the German Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai convened a meeting for the BBAA delegation and advised the German counterparts on the legal aspects regarding a co-operation with Chinese partners.
The CIGAC 2013 not only was used as an excellent opportunity for the BBAA company members to present themselves in China, but also to familiarize themselves with the current situation of GA in China. Additionally, it allowed the exchange of contacts with Chinese stakeholders and partners in order to explore co-operation opportunities between German and Chinese companies in the field of General Aviation.
